Jennifer Sims

Jennifer Sims is the CEO of Power & Tel, a position she’s held since 2013. Power & Tel is a third-generation family-owned company founded by her grandfather 58 years ago. The company distributes communications products and solutions used to build and maintain communication networks to around 70 different countries from its multiple locations throughout the US, as well as in Canada and Mexico.

Sims started in 2004 and says it is a privilege to work with her father, brother, uncle, and cousins, as well as co-workers, and employees who she considers family.   Power & Tel recently relocated the world headquarters to Piperton, TN, to start a new chapter and are committed to the growth and expansion of their operations.  They employ around 400 people in sales and operations and help their employees find a path to success.

Power & Tel is a Certified Woman Business Enterprise and value-add partner. The company’s core customers are rural providers of cable, wireless, and broadband, but also include AT&T, Verizon, and contractors, as well as electrical and utility companies. Sims says she is passionate about continuing the company’s outstanding reputation of delivering high-quality service to contractors and service provides.

Sims has a BA in Communications from Vanderbilt University, as well as an MBA, with concentrations in Finance and MIS, from the University of Tennessee. Sims is committed to the ICT industry and has served as Treasurer on the Executive Board of Directors for the Telecommunications Industry Association and QuEST Forum. She also served as the inaugural President of the Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) Chapter of Greater Memphis-Jackson.

When she’s not working, she enjoys watching her two children play multiple sports including volleyball, soccer, and swimming. Her husband is a musician who directs the band at White Station High School. Her favorite way to unwind is by taking an annual trip to California with her family where they stay in a cabin, and hike and boat.
