The Redeemers Group

Why Memphis, and why this location?

We started in Memphis at our original tiny location on Jackson Ave. 10 years ago. This is home. This is our community. There is no better place to redefine our industry than for our neighbors. We are also blessed to service a large area based out of our Memphis home.

What does your company provide?

Residential and commercial structural repair, waterproofing, crawl space repair and encapsulation, concrete lifting and leveling, and mold prevention.

What makes your business stand out?

Our purpose. It is true that we are experts at the services we provide which is truly a niche market. But ultimately, our purpose sets us apart, and that is to redefine our industry. We believe more is possible. Experiences can be remarkable for customers, and employees can have a passion for what they are doing. We bestow the gift of high expectations on our team, and they respond, and our customers benefit from that.

Why did you join the Chamber?

The Greater Memphis Chamber provides so many resources to the business community in Memphis, and works every day to make our city a better place to do business. It is invaluable to be a part of that.

What advice would you offer to those wanting to start their own business?

The average person watches T.V. each day and hardly ever reads to learn something useful for their business or personal development.  To start and run a successful business one will need to learn so many new skills - they will never "make it" on what they know today.  It will require knowledge that is free and available in books and online articles, most people just never take the time to learn in order to earn.

What was your motivation for opening your own business?

We have a whole article on our website that talks about a bad experience my parents had with a contractor when I was younger. That played a big role. In the beginning I was just trying to provide for my family.  The idea of starting my own business was really encouraged by my father-in-law.  He believed in me even before I was sure that this was possible, I will always owe him a great deal of gratitude.

What are some key things that allowed your business to grow?

I’ve never believed that one person could be the best at every aspect of the business.  Early in my business life there were several key hires, people with whom I built a long term relationship of trust.  Those key leaders were able to grow up with the company; together we embraced the necessity of change.  It is certainly true what got you to one place will NOT get you to the next level!

Who is your target market?

Home owners and businesses with foundation problems and waterproofing problems that want to create permanent solutions.

What are some of your favorite local businesses?

Small innovative businesses like Gant Systems, Worksite Consultants and Fuel It.

Who in the business world influences you?

A world of education in books begins for me with sales - Brian Tracy, for business operations - Patrick Lencioni, for interpersonal communications - Dr. Henry Cloud, and for accountability - Jocko Willink.

What’s the best thing about owning your own business?

Run correctly, you can lead an innovative business that impacts your customers, your community, your team and your family financially, emotionally, and spiritually.

If your business is expanding, relocating, or opening a new location, what are the reasons for this change?

Yes to the first two!  When we grow exponentially, we need more office space, more warehouse space, more parking space!

How will this change affect your organization’s mission or vision for the future?

Our financial commitment to a larger work campus ensures we are focused on the positive long term impact to the city and the improvement to thousands of homes; which increase market value for our home owners and businesses here in the Mid-South.  Our purpose is to Redefine our Industry, that is, the contractor experience for customers AND for employees. We will hold ourselves accountable to create remarkable experiences for our customers and employees. Each time we do this, we  believe it encourages customers to expect more and believe more is possible for ALL home improvements (not just the ones we provide).
