MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Friday, 4/8/22) – The Greater Memphis Chamber will relocate its office this summer to The Tower at Peabody Place in Downtown Memphis, an upgrade that will let the region’s lead economic development organization better showcase Memphis to companies from around the world.

The Chamber’s Board of Directors unanimously voted Friday to lease 14,515 square feet on the 10th floor of The Tower at Peabody Place, 100 Peabody Place, from an affiliate of Belz Enterprises. The agreement ends a search that started in February 2020 and included more than 10 properties, all in Downtown.

“This is us putting our money where our mouth is,” said Beverly Robertson, president and CEO of the Greater Memphis Chamber. “We’ve been encouraging companies to ‘Join the Movement’ and invest in Memphis, and now it’s our turn. We’re excited to contribute to the growth of Downtown and the region with this investment, which gives the Chamber an office that reflects the quality of its work.”

“The Chamber’s office is the front door for companies from around the world that are looking to invest in Greater Memphis,” said Ted Townsend, chief economic development officer of the Chamber. “We'll be just down the street from internationally recognized landmarks like Beale Street and FedExForum. Downtown also boasts the headquarters of world-class companies like St. Jude, FedEx Logistics, AutoZone, Terminix, and others. We’re excited to showcase what our region has to offer, and we hope our excitement will be contagious.”

The Chamber last changed offices in 1989, when it became a tenant of the Falls Building. In January, the Chamber was informed that the use of the building was changing and that renewing its lease would not be an option. The Chamber plans to relocate this summer before its lease expires in August.

“Having worked in partnership with the Chamber for many years, this was an especially exciting project for myself and Colliers International to be involved on,” said Alex Stringfellow, vice president at Colliers in Memphis, who represented the Chamber in the lease negotiation. “With views of the Mississippi River, FedExForum, and the Peabody Hotel, among other sites, the new office will be uniquely ‘Memphis’ and will no doubt aid in the continued momentum of the Chamber and Greater Memphis.”

The lease upgrades the Chamber’s office space and gives it branding on the building. Other notable tenants of the office tower include Belz Enterprises; Bass, Berry & Sims; the Tennessee Valley Authority; and the Economic Development Growth Engine for Memphis and Shelby County.
